Dr. Brailer, our first National Healthcare Information Technology Director, stated 50% of EHR implementations fail, because physicians do not understand the process. With only 14% of practices having an EHR, I feel compelled to share my knowledge and our practice’s good news to positively impact EHR implementations.

In 2003, Roswell Pediatric Center, P.C. won the HIMSS, Davies Award of Excellence for ambulatory care. This prestigious award recognizes practices that have successfully implemented EHR, and improved the quality of patient care. I have served on the selection committee since winning the award. We read and review applications from practices that apply for the award, then visit the finalists, and choose the winners. Our practice is also a show site for our EHR vendor, so we host many visits with practices that are searching for an EHR. I have had the opportunity to travel the country and speak about EHR. All of these experiences, in and out of the practice, have added to my EHR knowledge.
